The Beginning

This blog, I believe would be something really personal to me opened to the view of only the closest of my acquaintances. It's not by my own accord that it would be veiled from the larger public in fact I would want it to be read, criticized and pondered upon but there are primarily two reasons of the thought I'm lingering on. Firstly, I will not use those eye-catching headlines which instantly want one to grapple with the subject matter only to realize it being of a hollow nature and useless in its entirety. The comical part though is that this is what eventually works and is working with the masses who have given themselves the fancy title of "Netizens" which even this software I'm writing on doesn't accept as a valid word showing it's disagreement by underlining it with a crooked red line. Secondly, I don't perfectly know the reasons someone who is inescapably an stranger may have to read about my senseless musings, travels and reviews. With these thoughts of being ignored and absurd I have took the step to contribute my own thing in this humongous pot of internet stew which seems to push out the things it doesn't like or all the more dreadfully; just buries it deep inside.

After giving-a what I believe-a sufficiently comprehensive review to the Western Literature and Cinema which looms around I have this firm opinion that India at large has been grossly misunderstood both by its natives and others. Now, just to make things clear I am not a pseudo-nationalist freak who has these convoluted definitions of funky western terms readily manipulated by the goons he hangs out with but a rationalist who strives to see things as they are. The title of this blog has been deliberately kept as it has been and is hoped to be a reminder of the contradictory beliefs I harbor-a personality trait also known as cognitive dissonance. Coming back to India, there are primarily two reasons of travelling in India which may be more beneficial to the natives but equally lucrative to others. The first is unarguably economical which I think is evident and capable enough to be understood without any explanations. The second is the largely ignored fact that India has the reflections of every tiny place in this world within its folds. You want to dry yourself in the deserts of Sahara, move through the alleys of Pakistan selling amazingly cooked chicken, be in the middle of a Bangladeshi lake with greenery all around, trek in the unrelenting mountains of Nepal, swift through the delicately manicured lanes of Paris, muse with the medieval age Gothic buildings of Europe or just get involved with the American lifestyle India always fails in letting you down. The contemporaries of these locations would be wondered on in subsequent posts but there is this one last issue which craves for my words.

It has been mistakenly imagined that the myriad of places in India which have a religious connotation are not worthy of attendance by the youth. In contrast, they are the best places to go looking for "fun" and contentment out of a trip. The Chardhams; Chotey and Badey, Sapta Puri, Shavaite, Vaishnavaite, Buddhist, Jainist, Islamist, Parsist and countless other sects, religions and beliefs do have these places all around the country which would be definitely not able to give you your wish, straighten out your problems, help you to have a better life in the next reincarnation nor would they give you the strength to fight all these things by yourself (as some people claim) but would be pure and unadulterated enjoyment in the widest sense of the term. It is just so amazing for me to see people with a disoriented and maligned belief thronging in millions at these locations with a divine connotation waiting for their idols to grant them something for happiness which is ironically in the act of coming itself. I have sufficiently elaborated my motives and doubts and the rest rests in the coming posts.
